The TEM10 locomotive will be equipped with a powerful engine from a KamAZ K5 truck. The Lyudinovsky тепловизостроительный завод (part of the Sinara-Transport Machines holding) has found a replacement for imported power plants.
As a replacement, engineers installed an in-line 6-cylinder KamAZ R6 turbodiesel.
TEM10 — a four-axle diesel locomotive equipped with two diesel units; this configuration provides fuel savings of 20%. However, as of February 2025, only 18 such machines have been built.
The project for a promising family of in-line six-cylinder engines called "Tibet" was launched on June 10, 2014. Currently, these units are used in agricultural machinery from Russian manufacturers, as well as KamAZ K5 generation trucks. With a working volume of 13 liters, the diesels produce from 420 to 560 hp.
