Kia recalls over 300,000 vehicles

Defects found in two popular models — Telluride and K5

Kia has announced a large-scale recall of vehicles in the United States: defects have been found in two popular models — Telluride and K5. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that on 201,149 Kia Telluride crossovers manufactured from October 2022 to September 2024, the exterior door molding may detach while driving. The reason is incorrect application of glue by the South Korean supplier Saedong. Since the end of September 2024, new cars have already been using reinforced moldings with an additional retainer.

Another 101,000 Kia K5 sedans from 2023–2025 are subject to recall due to poor fixation of decorative elements on the body pillars. Another contractor, Keumgang Chemical, was responsible for this part. Although Kia received thousands of complaints, no injuries have been reported.

Notifications for owners will begin to be sent out at the end of September 2025. All repairs will be performed free of charge.
