New "Moskvich" spotted in Moscow

This is a prototype crossover based on the MG HS

On the territory of the Moscow automobile plant "Moskvich", journalists of "Rambler/auto" noticed a carefully disguised prototype of a new model, which indicates preparations for the launch of production. Earlier, experts from the publication "Chinese Automobiles", after studying the declaration of conformity, suggested that the plant plans to produce an SUV on the Chinese MG HS platform from SAIC. The photographed crossover looks different from the four current models of "Moskvich", based on the JAC platform, which suggests a new project.

Presumably, this is the M70 model, which will be based on the front-wheel drive MG HS. The dimensions of the latter are 4655 mm in length, 1890 mm in width, 1890 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2765 mm and a trunk volume of 507 liters. The basic version is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 172 hp with a seven-speed robotic gearbox, while a more powerful modification offers a 2.0-liter engine with 231 hp with a nine-speed automatic, which promises variety in the lineup.

Against the background of this innovation, the freshest model of the plant remains the "Moskvich 8" crossover, which recently acquired its first owner. Its basic "Business" configuration starts from 2,980,000 rubles.
