The prospects of the Korean car brand KGM, formerly known as SsangYong, in the Russian market appear uncertain. This opinion was expressed by Anton Shaparin, President of the National Automobile Union (NAS).
According to him, despite the good equipment and comfort of KGM cars, a significant disadvantage remains their price.
They are clearly inferior to Chinese competitors. I do not see successful prospects for this brand in the Russian market, and with the current sales figures, the future of the brand in Russia is in question.
Sergey Tselikov, head of the analytical agency "Autostat", holds a similar point of view. He emphasized that it will be "extremely difficult for KGM to maintain its position in the Russian market."
KGM announced its entry into the Russian market in the fall of 2024, presenting four crossover models: Tivoli, Torres, Rexton, and Korando. Subsequently, the company repeatedly offered and increased discounts on these cars.
