In August, 122,235 new passenger cars were sold in Russia. Sales turned out to be the highest in the country, although they were 17.6% lower than last August.
The only country that surpassed Russia was Germany, where 207,229 cars were sold - 5% more than a year earlier.
France took third place with 87,850 cars sold, showing an increase of 2.2% compared to August last year.
Great Britain, which held the second position in July, moved to fourth place in August with 82,908 cars sold - 2% less than a year earlier.
Italy completes the top five with 67,272 new cars sold (-2.7%) and Spain, where sales reached 61,315 units.
