Regular diesel Skoda Superb traveled almost 3000 km without refueling

There were no hybrid add-ons in the car

The winner of the 2025 European Rally Championship, Miko Marczyk, set an impressive fuel economy record, driving his Skoda Superb 2831 km without a single refueling. The car was almost standard - only slightly modified to improve aerodynamics: a lowered suspension from the Sportline version and tires with reduced rolling resistance reduced ground clearance by 15 mm.

Marczyk filled the tank with all 66 liters of diesel and maintained an average speed of about 80 km/h, following the route from Lodz through Germany, Paris, Belgium and the Netherlands. The average consumption was only 2.61 liters per 100 km, and in some sections - only 2.2 liters. This is almost twice as economical as the official Skoda data.

The Superb with a 2.0-liter TDI engine with 148 hp, front-wheel drive and a 7-speed DSG "robot" managed to show that diesel technologies are still alive. For the ideal trajectory, a support vehicle moved ahead, helping to predict the road situation.

Now the champion intends to beat his own result and cover 3000 km on one tank. According to him, with warmer weather and the use of premium fuel, the task is quite feasible.
