The Russian market for грузовой автотранспорт is experiencing a sharp contraction. In the period from January to September 2025, only 4,759 trucks were imported into the country, which is 92% less than a year earlier, the lowest figure in five years.
For comparison, in the record-breaking 2023, more than 108,800 vehicles were imported, and in 2022 — over 36,000.
The decline affected almost all dominant Chinese brands in the market: FAW (-93%), Sitrak (-92%), Howo (-87%), Sany (-43%). Imports of седельных тягачей (–95%) and самосвалов (–96%) fell particularly sharply.
Experts explained the fall by the effect of "digesting" previous imports.
After two years of actively importing a huge number of heavy trucks, there has been a pause.
In previous years, companies purchased vehicles ahead of schedule, fearing shortages. Now warehouses are overflowing, and purchasing activity has decreased due to economic uncertainty and business caution.
