The Russian used car market has shown a sharp increase: in October 2025, sales of used cars increased by 18% compared to September. According to Avtostat, a total of 653 thousand cars were sold, which is 7.9% higher than the figure a year earlier. The sharp recovery is explained by the reduction in available new cars and the active growth of prices in the new car segment.
The leader remains Lada — 142.9 thousand cars resold. Next come Toyota (66.2 thousand), Kia (39.6 thousand), Hyundai (37.4 thousand) and Nissan (28.7 thousand). The most popular models are Lada 2107, Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Ford Focus and Lada 4×4 — they are chosen for their low cost of ownership, maintainability and cheap spare parts.
Japan dominates the structure of used car imports — 35.3%, followed by South Korea (23%), China (17.6%), Georgia and Belarus. Despite the decline in Japanese supplies, the reputation of Japanese cars keeps them in the lead.
At the same time, in the first nine months, Russia lost its status as the largest importer of Chinese cars — Mexico took first place, followed by the UAE. Experts note: if new cars continue to rise in price, the "secondary market" will maintain its course for further growth.
