EFB battery production for cars, trucks, and special vehicles has been launched in Tatarstan. The Yelabuga Battery Plant is ready to produce up to 80,000 batteries per year, and the total investment in the project exceeded 157 million rubles. A significant part of the funds was provided by the Industrial Development Fund and regional support institutions.
The new batteries use liquid electrolyte and charge 45% faster than classic SLA batteries, have increased capacity, better resistance to cyclic discharges, and reduced cost. They are already used in cars with advanced electronics, including KAMAZ vehicles, as well as backup power sources in industry and telecommunications.
The plant claims full localization of production and the use of its own short-circuit protection system and proprietary paste, which ensures stable operation down to –30 °C. Currently, foreign brands occupy about 80% of the Russian EFB battery market, but the company plans to win back at least 8% of the segment after reaching its design capacity.
