The applications were filed by Mercedes-Benz Group AG from Germany in September 2025. The group registered the S 600 designation, as well as two corporate logos. The trademarks were filed under Nice Classification classes No. 12 and No. 37, which cover automobiles and their components, as well as vehicle repair and maintenance services.

The Avtodom group of companies, which owns the former Mercedes-Benz plant in the Moscow Region, explained that the brand registrations are defensive in nature. According to company representatives, the automaker is thereby preventing possible use of its copyrights by third parties and minimizing reputational risks.

In March 2022, Mercedes-Benz announced the suspension of passenger car deliveries to the Russian Federation and the termination of their production within the country.
