GWM is actively testing the extended frame SUV Tank 300 Hooke Edition in China, preparing the model for extreme off-road conditions. The vehicle features an increased wheelbase, solid axles, and a larger hood. The short front overhang provides an approach angle of up to 45 degrees.
The Tank 300 Hooke Edition is designed for challenging mountain routes and extreme tests. The front double-wishbone suspension has been replaced with a solid axle, the ground clearance has been increased, and two engines are available: a 2.4-liter turbodiesel with 186 hp and a 3-liter gasoline V6 with 354 hp. The transmission is a 9-speed automatic, with part-time all-wheel drive. A solid axle is also installed on the rear axle for better off-road capability.
The first appearance of the Tank 300 Hooke Edition was planned for the end of 2025, but testing has been delayed. Currently, the car is being tested in cold climates, checking the operation of the suspension and all-wheel drive. According to the latest data, sales in China will start in the first half of 2026.
