Toyota Reveals Details of New RAV4 Versions

329 hp PHEV and GR Sport Coming Soon

Toyota has announced the upcoming launch of a plug-in version of the new generation Toyota RAV4 crossover in the Japanese market. Until now, the model was only offered with a parallel hybrid system (HEV), but sales of the PHEV version will begin on March 9.

The RAV4 PHEV is equipped with a power plant with a total output of 329 hp. The range on pure electric drive has been increased to 150 km, compared to 95 km for the previous generation model. Silicon carbide-based semiconductors are used in the power management unit, which has reduced power losses.

External devices with a power of up to 1500 W can be connected to the traction battery. The function is designed for use during outdoor recreation or travel.

Sales of the new GR Sport trim level will also begin on March 9. It features an aggressive front bumper, rear spoiler, 235/50 R20 wheels on original rims, and red brake calipers. The equipment includes side body vibration dampers and GR Performance Damper shock absorbers with sports settings.

Toyota will reveal further details about the RAV4 versions later.
