The Real Share of Chinese Cars in Russia Has Been Named

As of the beginning of 2026, about 3.15 million cars from China are registered in the country

Chinese cars account for only 6.6% of the Russian car fleet. At the beginning of 2026, just over 3 million Chinese brand cars were registered in the country out of a total fleet of 47.5 million passenger cars. This data was provided by Sergey Tselikov, General Director of the Autostat analytical agency.

According to Tselikov, despite the active growth in sales and the expansion of the presence of Chinese brands in the last four years, the mass distribution of Chinese cars in Russia has not yet occurred. On average, only every fifteenth motorist has switched to such cars.

The largest share in the Russian car fleet is occupied by domestic cars. There are about 13.8 million of them, which corresponds to more than 29% of all registered passenger cars. Japanese cars occupy the second place in terms of prevalence, their fleet is about 11.4 million units.

Next come Korean brands with a result of 6.27 million cars. They are followed by German brands — 4.87 million cars and American brands — 3.22 million.

Chinese cars are only in sixth place in terms of car fleet size. At the beginning of 2026, about 3.15 million cars from China were registered in Russia. There are not much fewer French cars in the country — about 2.74 million units.
