The Russian government is considering reducing some of the “insensitive” expenditures of the federal budget in 2026. Among the items that may be subject to optimization are the construction and repair of highways.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that such measures are indeed being discussed. However, final decisions on expenditure adjustments have not yet been made.
The agency calls the possible changes a “prioritization of expenditures.” This refers to the redistribution of budget funds between areas depending on their importance to the state.
At the same time, the construction of new roads and the repair of existing ones require significant investments.
