Tesla Delays Roadster for Years - and Postpones Again

The presentation of the new car is scheduled for the end of April

Tesla has once again postponed the presentation of the second generation Tesla Roadster. The presentation is now expected at the end of April instead of the previously announced date of April 1.

The postponement was announced by the company's CEO, Elon Musk, who noted that the new version of the sports car will be the "next level" for the brand. At the same time, the model has been one of Tesla's most long-delayed projects for several years — its launch has been postponed since 2020.

The Roadster was conceived as a flagship electric vehicle that should demonstrate the maximum capabilities of electric traction and surpass traditional sports cars with internal combustion engines. However, during the delays, the electric vehicle market has changed significantly, and many models have already proven the high dynamics of EVs.

Against this background, Tesla's strategy has also shifted towards autonomous transport. The company is actively developing self-driving technologies and preparing new projects, including robotaxis.

As a result, a contradiction arises: on the one hand, Tesla is promoting the idea of driverless cars, and on the other hand, it continues to work on an expensive sports car focused specifically on the pleasure of driving.

The timing of the Roadster's mass production is still not disclosed.
