Geely is intensifying its expansion in Australia and has appointed a new head of its local business. The goal is clearly stated – positioning "like Toyota, but from China." With 4.1 million cars sold globally in 2025, the results in the local Australian market are still modest – 2,821 cars in Q1 2026. For comparison, BYD sold 17,541. The limitation is a narrow lineup: currently, only Geely EX5 and Geely Starray are available.
The key to growth is the rapid expansion of the product matrix to meet local preferences: a dual-cab pickup, a body-on-frame SUV, a 7-seater SUV, and a full-size sedan. The powertrains will be a mix: ICE, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids, to cover various use cases.
The premium segment will be strengthened by Zeekr and Lynk & Co, while the utility vehicle niche will be filled by Radar Auto pickups. This allows covering several price segments at once without developing from scratch.
The most affordable product will be the compact hatchback Geely EX2 with a price below 30,000 Australian dollars (1,620,000 rubles). In parallel, the three-row PHEV SUV Geely Galaxy Cruiser is being prepared to compete in the mid-range segment.
