Xiaomi introduced one of the most unusual developments for electric car owners – a home robotic charging station with a mechanical arm. The device independently finds the car's charging connector and plugs in the cable without human intervention. The launch of the new product on the market is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.
Unlike traditional charging stations where the driver has to manually connect the cable, the new system uses a robotic manipulator and a set of sensors. After parking the car, the device determines the position of the charging port, brings the connector, and performs the connection automatically.
Judging by the published materials, the solution is primarily intended for home use. This approach may be especially in demand for car owners who charge their car daily in a garage or private parking. In fact, Xiaomi is trying to make the charging process as seamless as connecting a smartphone to a wireless charger.
The project also fits well into the company's ecosystem strategy. After entering the automotive market, Xiaomi is actively developing solutions that combine cars, consumer electronics, and smart homes. Robotic charging can become another element of this digital ecosystem.
If the technology reaches mass production within the stated timeframe, Xiaomi will become one of the first companies to offer a mass solution for fully automatic electric vehicle charging at home.
