The Ford Mustang topped the ranking of cars that owners use the least. Analysts came to this conclusion in a new study of the American market, examining the average annual mileage of popular models.
According to published data, Mustang owners drive an average of only 2,092 miles (about 3,367 km) per year. This is 84.3% less than the average for cars in the USA. By this parameter, the iconic coupe even surpassed models such as the Mercedes-Benz SL, Porsche 911, and Chevrolet Corvette.
At first glance, the result seems strange. The Mustang remains one of the most affordable sports cars on the market and is produced in large volumes. However, experts explain the situation differently: many owners use the model as a weekend car, rather than as their primary mode of transport. Cars often become part of private collections or are purchased for seasonal trips.
A similar trend is observed with other sports models. The top ten also included the Porsche 911, Chevrolet Corvette, Mazda MX-5 Miata, and BMW Z4. Almost all of these cars are bought for the pleasure of driving, not for daily commutes.
For Ford, such a result can be considered a kind of recognition of the model's status. Despite the development of digital services and the spread of crossovers, the Mustang still remains a car that many owners save for special occasions. And that is why its mileage is significantly lower than the market average.
