The Russian company Sollers presented its new S9 body-on-frame SUV. The car is based on the Sollers ST9 pickup truck, but the developers emphasize that this is not a copy of an existing Chinese model, but an independent project with an original rear body design.
The ST9 pickup truck, which in turn is built on the JAC T9 platform, served as the basis for the new model. Sollers specialists developed new body panels for the rear part of the SUV, including wider rear doors. As a result, the car received a full-fledged enclosed body instead of the pickup truck's cargo platform.
The company first announced plans to produce such a model back in November 2024 during Product Day. Now the project is ready for mass production.
Technically, the Sollers S9 will retain the classic off-road architecture for the segment. It will feature switchable all-wheel drive with low-range gearing, a solid rear axle, and a coil-spring rear suspension.
At the start of sales, the Sollers S9 will be equipped with a localized 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine with 143 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Full-cycle mass production of the model is planned to begin in September at the Sollers New Technologies Park in the Ulyanovsk region.
The appearance of the S9 will allow the company to expand its range of body-on-frame vehicles and enter the full-size SUV segment, which has remained one of the most stable in the Russian market in recent years.
