In Crimea, free fuel sales have been completely halted; gasoline is only available to special services

Authorities tightened restrictions amid ongoing problems with petroleum product supplies to the peninsula

Crimean authorities have introduced unprecedented restrictions on fuel sales. From 9:00 AM on June 21, gas stations on the peninsula stopped selling gasoline and diesel fuel to the public and commercial organizations.

This was announced by the head of the republic, Sergey Aksyonov. According to him, the restrictions apply to all forms of payment, including cash and cashless payments, as well as previously issued fuel vouchers.

An exception is made only for state structures ensuring the security and vital activity of the region. They will retain access to fuel as before.

The new measures are a continuation of restrictions in force on the peninsula since late May. Initially, limits on fuel dispensing volume were introduced at some gas stations. For example, in Sevastopol, from May 22, one customer was allowed to purchase no more than 20 liters of gasoline. Later, similar restrictions began to spread to other areas of Crimea.

The authorities cite logistical difficulties with petroleum product supplies as the main reason. However, the timing for the resumption of free fuel sales has not yet been announced. The regional leadership stated that further decisions will be made based on the evolving situation.
