Chevrolet is preparing a new generation of Camaro, but fans will have to wait. According to GM Authority sources, the car is expected as a 2029 model, which is four years after the end of production of the sixth generation in 2024. GM has not yet announced an official premiere date.
The main intrigue is the body. Instead of a traditional two-door coupe, the Camaro may get four doors and a more practical interior. At the same time, its sporty character will be preserved: the model is expected with a longitudinal engine, rear-wheel drive, and the Alpha 2-2 architecture, which will also be used by the next Cadillac CT5.
Even more interesting is the powertrain. The new Camaro will remain an internal combustion engine car, and buyers will be offered a six-speed manual transmission along with an automatic. For the modern market, this is a rare combination, especially against the backdrop of a reduction in the number of models with three pedals.
A four-door body may seem like a departure from tradition, but technically it solves one of the main problems of the old Camaro — a cramped second row. For comparison: the current Cadillac CT5 has 963 mm of rear legroom versus 759 mm for the 2024 Camaro coupe.
