Ford has begun exporting the new electric Transit City to Europe, which is produced in China at the Jiangling Motors factory in Nanchang. The first batch numbers about 1000 vans, and deliveries to European customers are expected to begin by the end of 2026. This is the first vehicle that Ford China has produced for the European lineup directly in China.
The Transit City received a 56 kWh LFP battery and a 110 kW front electric motor. The range reaches 254 km according to WLTP, and charging from 10 to 80% takes 33 minutes. The payload, depending on the version, is up to 1275 kg.
The main advantage is the price. In Germany, the Transit City costs from 35,990 euros (about 3.5 million rubles) without VAT, while the electric E-Transit Custom of Turkish assembly starts at about 57,953 euros (5.6 million rubles) with VAT. Ford is effectively using the Chinese production base to offer European carriers a more affordable electric van.
The scale of the strategy is evident in the numbers: in 2025, Ford exported 184 thousand vehicles from China to more than 80 countries. At the same time, the Changan Ford joint venture sold only 99.4 thousand cars within China. The Transit City shows how Ford's Chinese facilities are gradually transforming from a tool for the domestic market into a global production site.
