BYD has opened pre-orders in China for the second generation of the compact electric car Seagull. The car's dimensions have significantly increased: length reached 4205 mm, width — 1810 mm, height — 1570 mm, and wheelbase — 2650 mm. Compared to the current Seagull, the length increased by 425 mm.
The increased body allowed for a full five-seater interior instead of a four-seater. A 94-liter trunk appeared under the hood, and the cargo volume with the rear seats folded reaches 1380 liters. The motor is now located at the rear and develops 95 kW (127 hp) — almost twice as much as the current Seagull version.
Two LFP batteries with capacities of 30 and 39.2 kWh are provided for the car. The declared range is 320 and 420 km according to the Chinese CLTC cycle, respectively. The WLTP equivalent is estimated at approximately 262 and 344 km.
One of the main features will be an optional lidar on the roof. It is connected to the DiPilot 300 (God's Eye B) driver assistance system. Support for BYD's proprietary fast charging is also expected, which can replenish the charge from 10 to 97% in about nine minutes, however, for the new Seagull, this possibility is not yet declared as a final characteristic for all versions.
