The Chinese brand Jaecoo has presented a new crossover, the J6, in Moscow, which will be positioned as the junior model in the family. The car is positioned as a universal solution for travel and outdoor activities, including for pet owners. A line of accessories designed for the comfort of pets, as well as options for camping, has already been announced.
The Russian version of the J6 is almost 13 centimeters longer than the Chinese J5 — 4509 mm, while maintaining a width of 1860 mm, a height of 1650 mm, and a wheelbase of 2620 mm. Interestingly, the J6 turned out to be 9 mm longer than the older J7 model, although it is 50 mm shorter in wheelbase. The manufacturer promises impressive ground clearance and the ability to overcome fords up to 600 mm deep. The geometric cross-country ability of the crossover corresponds to compact SUVs: the approach and departure angles are 20 and 30 degrees. In a competitive environment, the novelty is compared with Tenet T4 and Belgee X50.
At the start of sales, a front-wheel drive version with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 147 hp and a six-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches will appear. Later, in the second half of 2026, a version with all-wheel drive and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 150 hp, coupled with a seven-speed preselective "robot", will debut. There is no data on dynamics and fuel consumption yet, and hybrid and electric versions of the Chinese model will not be supplied to Russia.
The interior of the Jaecoo J6 stands out with durable materials: the TÜV SÜD antibacterial fabric is resistant to scratches, easily cleaned of stains and odors, and pets' claws are not afraid of it. For the comfort of passengers, there is a two-zone climate control, as well as a temperature maintenance function for pets. There is enough leg and head room in the second row, although some elements such as rear deflectors, separate USB ports, and heated buttons have not yet been confirmed. The trunk volume of 480 liters can be increased to 1180 liters with the seats folded down, and there are more than 35 compartments for small items in the cabin.
A special "feature" of the J6 is accessories for pets: a folding ramp for dogs, a grille between the trunk and the cabin, folding awning booths, branded bowls, leashes and water dispensers. A camping kit with an external lamp, a tent, folding chairs and a platform on the roof for equipment up to 75 kg is also offered.
The equipment of the crossover includes six airbags, acoustic glazing on the front doors, a digital instrument panel, multimedia with a 13.2-inch screen and wireless Apple CarPlay, a panoramic roof with an area of 1.45 m², a circular view system with a "transparent hood", a 50 W wireless charger, an electric trunk drive, as well as 19 electronic assistants, including adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring systems. There is a proprietary telematics system with remote heating and a winter package.
Prices for the Jaecoo J6 have not yet been announced, but it is predicted that the cost of the novelty will be lower than the basic Jaecoo J7 LE, which costs from 2,759,900 rubles at the start of sales.
