Jetour T1: an urban crossover with an off-road character

The model's pros and cons have been named

The new T1 family model immediately attracts attention. At first glance, it seems to be a scaled-down version of the brutal Jetour T2, but the T1 combines the traits of a full-fledged SUV with the convenience of an urban crossover. Externally, the vehicle has retained the recognizable silhouette, headlight styling, and glazing lines of the senior model, but without unnecessary theatrics: there are no plastic tow loops or bright accents. At the same time, the ground clearance is impressive, the wading depth reaches 600 mm, and all-wheel drive with a rear differential lock and an "off-road cruise control" make the T1 confident on rough terrain.

The T1's dimensions are slightly smaller than the T2's: the vehicle is 80 mm shorter, 37 mm lower, and the width has decreased by 9 mm. At the same time, the wheelbase has remained the same at 2800 mm, so the cabin feels almost just as spacious. The space for the driver and front passenger is well thought out: comfortable seats with thigh support, an adjustable cushion length, and a soft backrest make the trip comfortable. Second-row passengers are provided with plenty of legroom, a flat floor without a tunnel, heated bench seating, and two USB ports.

The interior is done in the T2's style: a massive steering column, a large instrument panel, and a multimedia system with a 15.6-inch screen. The finishing materials are of good quality: the plastic is pleasant to the touch, the panels are upholstered in faux leather, and the details are well fitted. The main practical feature is the fully implemented mechanical climate control buttons, allowing temperature, airflow, and recirculation to be changed with a single touch, although some winter functions are still hidden in the multimedia menu.

The T1's trunk is more modest than its bigger brother's — 574 liters versus 580 liters in the T2, but it accommodates several large suitcases and a couple of bags. There are side niches, tie-down loops, and a 12-volt socket. There is no cargo cover, but mounts for it are provided, and the underfloor compartment hides a space-saver spare and an organizer for tools. For urban and travel use, the trunk volume is more than sufficient.

Under the T1's hood is the turbocharged SQR F4J20 inline-four producing 245 hp and 375 Nm of torque, familiar from the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max and Jetour X90 Plus. The engine is aluminum with cast-iron liners, a timing chain drive, and direct injection. Its potential service life is estimated at 300,000 km; isolated complaints about oil consumption or local leaks are not systemic in nature. With a 70-liter fuel tank, the cruising range corresponds to 9–10 l/100 km on the highway and 12–13 l/100 km in the city.

The transmission is an eight-speed Fuzhen FA840 automatic, operating smoothly and without critical complaints. Paired with the turbo engine, it provides brisk acceleration: the T1 reaches 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, slightly quicker than the T2. In Sport mode, the transmission keeps the revs higher, shifts faster, and the vehicle feels lively but without jerkiness. The steering is informative, the electronics gently correct behavior on slippery surfaces, and if acceleration is overdone, the front wheels carefully begin to slide without losing control.

The T1's suspension is somewhat stiff: small irregularities and road joints are transmitted into the cabin, but over larger defects the vehicle behaves well, smoothing out impacts and not causing discomfort to passengers. Off-road, the crossover confidently handles muddy sections, diagonal wheel lift, and climbs, although the tire tread loses grip more quickly on loosened surfaces. Sound insulation leaves room for improvement: tire noise and aerodynamic hum are audible, especially on the highway, while the T2 is quieter.

The Jetour T1 is offered in two trims: Comfort for 3,770,000 ₽ and Luxury for 3,950,000 ₽. The base version is equipped with LED optics, keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8-speaker audio system, power-adjustable front seats, heated windows, steering wheel, and seats in both rows, a surround-view camera system, wireless charging, and off-road cruise control.
