The Russian authorities have prepared amendments to the traffic rules that will affect pit bikes, enduro and cross-country motorcycles — they will be prohibited from entering public roads. Violation is punishable by a fine of up to 30 thousand rubles.
Pit bikes are motorcycles for off-road riding and stunts. They do not have a vehicle title, are not registered in any way, may not have mirrors, headlights and turn signals and are sold as sports equipment. Legally, they are not a vehicle, however, in recent years they have become very popular among teenagers, who use them, including for traveling on public roads, which is still prohibited, but no specific punishment for this has been prescribed.
