The updated Toyota Wildlander crossover, created as part of the GAC-Toyota joint venture, is a reimagined version of the RAV4, produced in China by FAW-Toyota. The model retains the look of the global RAV4, presented earlier, but with slight differences.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC, the dimensions of the Wildlander are 4600×1855×1680 mm, which is close to the dimensions of the European and American versions of the RAV4.
The main difference lies in the power plants. Unlike the global RAV4, which has completely switched to hybrid systems, the Wildlander retains the basic 2.0-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine with 169 hp, available with front or all-wheel drive. Also, buyers will be offered two hybrid versions with 2.0 and 2.5 liter engines, borrowed from the Toyota Camry XV80, produced by GAC-Toyota.
Visually, the Wildlander is almost identical to the RAV4, differing only in the emblem on the rear. The official presentation of the model is expected in the coming months, which emphasizes Toyota's desire to adapt the popular crossover to the Chinese market.
