The Russian market for hybrid and electric vehicles is showing contradictory trends in 2025, according to data from the marketing agency NAPI. From January to July 2025, sales of new plug-in hybrids decreased by 26.6% compared to the same period in 2024, amounting to 16.9 thousand units. However, in July, sales of new hybrids increased by 38.8% compared to June. At the same time, the used hybrid market shows steady growth: over the same period, 8.2 thousand cars were sold, which is 77% more than a year earlier, with an increase in July of 32.6%.
The electric vehicle segment is also experiencing a decline in the primary market. In the seven months of 2025, only 5.7 thousand new electric vehicles were sold, which is almost half as many as in 2024. The secondary market for electric vehicles proved to be more stable: 6.7 thousand used cars were sold, which is only 1.2% lower than last year's figure. This indicates a more active demand for used electric vehicles compared to new ones.
Corporate clients play a significant role in sales. They account for 15-34% of new hybrid purchases and 8-12% of used ones. Despite the slowdown in the primary market, interest in used hybrids and electric vehicles remains high, which may be due to their more affordable cost and the growing popularity of environmentally friendly technologies.
