AvtoVAZ to Switch to Four-Day Work Week for Six Months

The company will consider returning to a five-day work week if the market situation improves

AvtoVAZ plans to introduce a four-day work week from September 29 to March 28, 2026. The work schedule may last up to six months, however, if the situation in the car market improves, the five-day week may return earlier.

The fact that the company is switching to a four-day work week from September 29 for a period of six months was confirmed by the chairman of the AvtoVAZ trade union organization, Sergei Zaitsev. Officially, the Togliatti auto giant has not yet confirmed the reduction of the working week by one day.

Plans to reduce the work schedule were discussed at a conference of AvtoVAZ employees on the results of the collective agreement in the first half of 2025, which took place last week.

In the first half of 2025, AvtoVAZ has already taken measures to increase employment. In particular, we are talking about organizing additional equipment repairs, increasing the production of spare parts, training and retraining employees, work to improve working conditions, maintenance and landscaping of territories.
