Korean cars are gaining popularity in the Russian secondary market

In addition to Hyundai and Kia, Russians are actively buying used BMWs

The Russian market for used cars from South Korea is experiencing significant growth. In the first eight months of 2025, 61.6 thousand used cars were imported into the country, which is 88% more than in the same period of 2024. This surge reflects the high demand for Korean cars, which attract Russians with their reliability and variety of models.

Hyundai Palisade

The Hyundai Palisade leads the way with 3868 units sold. In second place is the Kia Carnival (3351 units), while the third and fourth positions are occupied by the Kia Sorento (3107 units) and Kia K5 (3103 units). Rounding out the top five is the BMW 5 Series (2684 units). The popularity of these models is explained by their comfort and modern equipment, and the main share of imports falls on cars manufactured in 2021–2022.

In addition to Hyundai and Kia, Russians are actively buying used BMWs, which account for more than 20% of imports from South Korea. The top 10 brands also include Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, Toyota, Porsche, SsangYong and Genesis. A wide selection of makes and models makes the South Korean market attractive to Russian buyers.
