Every fifth car owner in Russia supports the ban on cars older than 20 years, according to the Avtostat agency. The average age of passenger cars in the country has reached 15.5 years.
The ban was supported by 19.9% of respondents. Of these, 12.5% believe that there is a lot of old transport on Russian roads, which, due to wear and tear, is potentially dangerous to others.
The remaining 7.4% explain their position by the initially low quality of the cars produced and the fact that manufacturers calculate their resource for 10-15 years.
But those who are against it turned out to be significantly more - 65.3% consider it "unacceptable". Another 13.4% of the survey participants propose not to ban old cars, but call for increasing the frequency of technical inspections for them.
