Tesla CEO Elon Musk has once again found himself at the center of controversy after claiming that the Cybertruck outperformed the Porsche 911 in a quarter-mile race. According to Musk, the electric pickup truck was able to complete the track faster even while towing a 911 on a trailer. However, journalists and experts quickly questioned this story, accusing the company of misleading advertising.
As it turned out, the comparison was not made with the top versions of the legendary Porsche, but with one of the slowest models - the Carrera T. Moreover, the official Tesla video only showed a race for an eighth of a mile, although viewers were led to believe that it was a classic "quarter mile."
Later, chief engineer of the project, Wes Morrill, confirmed that the test was stopped earlier: the trailer tires were rated for speeds up to 80 mph, and the Cybertruck accelerated to 88 mph.
Independent measurements conducted by enthusiasts and experts show the opposite: most versions of the Porsche 911 easily overtake the Cybertruck over a full distance.
