Xiaomi conducted an investigation and found that thesudden movement of the SU7 electric vehicle while parked was caused by a Remote Parking Assist (RPA) command from an iPhone 15 Pro Max connected to the car via Bluetooth, and not an electronics failure.
The company sent a special team that analyzed the logs and operations of two connected phones - iPhone 16 Pro (identifier iPhone 17.1) and iPhone 15 Pro Max (identifier iPhone 16.2). The company acknowledged that in its initial response to the owner, it mentioned a signal from the "iPhone 16," which belongs directly to the owner, leading to confusion between the internal model identifier (16.2) and the commercial name.
According to Xiaomi's report, it was the iPhone 15 Pro Max that sent the RPA command at that moment, which activated the parking assist system and caused the car to move forward. Xiaomi emphasizes that the incident was not caused by a malfunction of the car's electronics or its systems - it was all due to a command from a connected device.
