Moskvich 6 Loses CVT and Becomes More Expensive

Now Only a Robotic Gearbox

The Moskvich 6 sedan will no longer have a CVT — it has been excluded from the Vehicle Type Approval and removed from the price lists for 2026 model year cars. The plant confirmed that the abandonment of this transmission is due to the end of its life cycle.

Previously, the model was offered with two gearbox options — a CVT and a six-speed "robot". Now only a robotic gearbox remains, which is combined with a more powerful 1.5-liter turbo engine with 174 hp. Along with the disappearance of the CVT from the range, the basic 136-horsepower engine also disappeared.

The updated Moskvich 6 is available in the Business and Techno versions at a price of 3.188 to 3.318 million rubles. For comparison, the 2024 version with a CVT cost about 2.2 million.

The main demand is still for the Moskvich 3 crossover, while the Moskvich 6 sedan remains a niche offering of the brand. In the near future, the lineup will be expanded by the large Moskvich M90 crossover with a 2-liter engine and a 9-speed "automatic".
