The fight against drunk drivers in Russia is becoming a profitable business: in some regions, citizens are paid up to 20 thousand rubles for reporting offenders. Material incentive programs are already in place in at least 13 regions of the country, and interest in them is growing.
The minimum reward for information about a drunk driver is set in Tuva — 2.5 thousand rubles, while in the Amur region you can get a record 20 thousand. Buryatia recently joined the initiative: here a payment of 5 thousand rubles is provided. To receive the money, it is necessary not only to inform the police about the offender, but also to confirm the fact of the offense, and then apply to the Ministry of Transport with a statement and passport.
According to the head of the region, Alexei Tsydenov, the measure is dictated by alarming statistics: since the beginning of 2024, more than two hundred accidents have occurred in Buryatia due to drunk drivers, claiming the lives of 54 people.
The amount of remuneration varies in different regions: in the Bryansk region and Komi they pay 3 thousand rubles, in Yamal — 4 thousand, in the Orenburg region — 4.5 thousand. The most common amount is 5 thousand rubles, this is what is offered, for example, in the Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod and Murmansk regions. In some cases, payments are growing — in the Vologda region, they increased from 3 to 15 thousand rubles and are now transferred even for reports of other gross violations, including driving without a license or on the oncoming lane.
