Failed AvtoVAZ Lada X-Cross 5 Crossover Photographed in Moscow

Project discontinued almost immediately after launch

Several years ago, AvtoVAZ considered the possibility of producing Lada X-Cross 5 crossovers at the site of the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. However, the plans were never implemented, and only a small batch of cars came off the assembly line, one of which was spotted in Moscow.

The Lada X-Cross 5 project was developed in collaboration with FAW, which acted as a technology partner. The FAW Bestune T77 was used as the basis for the Lada crossover.

AvtoVAZ does not comment on the reasons why the project was discontinued almost immediately after its launch. At the same time, the head of the company, Maxim Sokolov, clarified that the released batch of Lada X-Cross 5 was distributed among corporate customers.

After the termination of production of Lada X-Cross 5, the plant was renamed "Avtozavod St. Petersburg", where the production of Xcite crossovers based on Chery Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 began. Currently, Lada Iskra is being assembled at the production facilities of the St. Petersburg plant.
