A wave of technical problems and the burning of the Li Auto Mega minivan have forced the Chinese auto giant to take the toughest measures. The company has begun firing employees responsible for the development, testing, and build quality of electric vehicles.
As a reminder, on the night of October 24, a Li Auto Mega caught fire while in motion. The investigation revealed that the traction battery cooling system was not airtight. The company announced a recall of 11,411 vehicles and promised to completely replace the batteries, front electric motor controllers, and cooling systems.
However, the problems affected not only the technology but also the personnel. Internal Li Auto orders have leaked into the network: five employees from the R&D, production, and materials science departments have been fired for insufficient quality control. The heads of these departments were deprived of their annual bonuses and promotion rights.
Another nine employees responsible for battery testing and warranty service also lost their positions. Their supervisors were subject to disciplinary sanctions, ranging from demotion to financial penalties.
