AvtoVAZ sharply reduced the production of Lada Iskra: the market failed expectations

About 3,000 cars will be assembled in St. Petersburg by the end of the year

AvtoVAZ has reduced the annual production plan for the Lada Iskra sedan at the "Avtozavod St. Petersburg" by a quarter - to just over 3 thousand cars. The adjustment is due to sluggish market dynamics, said the head of the company Maxim Sokolov.

Initially, the concern expected to produce about 4 thousand Lada Iskra cars from the start of assembly in September until the end of 2025.

By the end of the year, just over 3 thousand cars will be assembled Lada Iskra in St. Petersburg.

However, according to Sokolov, the market has been demonstrating low activity throughout the year. The exception was October, when sales briefly increased due to the decision to index the recycling fee for individuals.

Unfortunately, the market is behaving sluggishly this year, with the exception of October, when the surge in sales was fueled by the decision to index the recycling fee for individuals. But this mainly affected Chinese models and cars that come through parallel imports. Sales of Lada cars remained at a relatively low level throughout the year.

The conveyors for the production of Lada Iskra in Togliatti and St. Petersburg are now operating at an average pace - producing 15 cars per hour. This mode is adjusted to logistics and distribution of supplies, including Belarus.

Recall that production at the St. Petersburg site is carried out on the former capacities of Nissan and Xcite.
