AvtoVAZ is testing Lada Azimut

The brand's first crossover will receive new equipment and unique heated side windows

AvtoVAZ continues road tests of Lada Azimut and has produced about 100 test vehicles, assembled using both pre-production and assembly line technology. The camouflaged prototype was again spotted in Togliatti - this time in a rich configuration, with two-tone wheels and a 132-horsepower 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine. In addition to the factory track, the car is being tested at the Akoev test site and on ordinary roads.

The crossover is already being prepared for state certification: it should receive OTTS in 2026, after which the model will go to the assembly line. In terms of size, Azimut falls into the Haval Jolion and Chery Tiggo 4 class - 4416 mm in length, 1838 mm in width, 1607 mm in height, ground clearance 208 mm. The range includes two naturally aspirated VAZ engines - 120 and 132 hp with 1.6 and 1.8 liters - paired with a manual transmission or a CVT. Later, a 150-horsepower turbo engine with a classic automatic will appear.

The most unusual solution will be the equipment. Azimut will receive the widest range of equipment in the history of the brand and will be the first Lada to have side windows heated with built-in threads, like the windshield and rear window. The system is controlled by a button and should improve safety in bad weather, making the novelty one of the most technologically advanced cars in the VAZ lineup.
