GAZ switches "Gazelle" and "Sobol" to reinforced gearbox KP 330

The transmission has become more resistant to loads

Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) has completed the transfer of gasoline and bifuel modifications of "Gazelle Business", "Sobol Business" and "Gazelle Next" to a reinforced 5-speed gearbox KP 330. This was reported by the company "Modern Transport Technologies".

GAZ introduced the KP 330, originally developed for diesel modifications of the "Gazelle Next". This unit is capable of withstanding torque up to 330 N·m and replaced the previous KP 250, which is currently produced only as spare parts.

The new unit is made of three body parts and is equipped with a spacer with an intermediate shaft support. Instead of a movable splined connection, a flange connection is used - this increases the transmission's resistance to loads.

The gearbox received modernized synchronizers for the first and second gears, as well as a reinforced fifth gear - GAZ expects to increase the unit's service life under intensive operation.

The transition to KP 330 began in March 2025 with all-metal "Gazelles Next", then in September "Gazelle Business" and "Sobol Business" 4×2 were modernized. Since November, the new transmission has been installed on flatbed modifications of "Next", and since December - on all-wheel drive versions of "Gazelle Business" and "Sobol Business".
