Living Dead: Experts Explain Why the Hunt for a "Good Used Car" Most Often Ends in Failure

Few Survivors: Buying a Used Car Turns into a Risky Venture

Searching for a "living" car on the secondary market today is increasingly like an excavation, where the chance of finding something really worthwhile tends to zero. Masters of repairing Japanese foreign cars in an interview with the AvtoVzglyad portal warned: even well-maintained cars often approach the end of their resource, and investments in them turn into an endless cycle of repair.

According to experts, after restoring the engine or suspension, new problems arise almost immediately — from transmissions to electronics and body elements. The hundreds of thousands of rubles spent do not make the car "alive", but form new obligations for the owner. It is especially difficult for those who expect to find an adequate option among budget models like Solaris or Rio: finding a decent copy is still possible, but very difficult.

Experts admit that despite the obvious hopelessness of hunting for "living dead", buyers continue to look for rare surviving cars at a reasonable price — and almost always choose the worst option. As a result, a used sedan or crossover cheaper than 1 million rubles turns into a constructor that requires more and more investment. If you are considering buying a used car, it is important to discard illusions and immediately prepare for serious expenses — otherwise the risks will only increase.
