The BYD Denza B5 plug-in hybrid SUV, known in China as Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5, has received five stars in ANCAP crash tests. The model demonstrated high efficiency in protecting passengers and children, confirming the safety of the frame SUV outside its home market.
The SUV is built on the BYD DMO platform, has dimensions of 4890/1970/1920 mm, and a ground clearance of up to 310 mm thanks to its hydraulic suspension. The power plant combines a 1.5-liter engine and two electric motors with a total output of 505 kW (650 hp). In Australia, the model is sold as the Denza B5, where it underwent safety assessment.
The ANCAP test results showed 95% in child passenger protection, 86% for adults, and 74% for vulnerable road users. Experts noted good performance of the automatic emergency braking systems, although AEB in reverse was not effective enough. Despite some comments on pedestrian safety and the front of the body in collisions, the Denza B5 confirmed a high level of protection and functionality of driver assistance systems (78%).
