Putin signed a law on fines for tinted windows in temporarily imported cars

Drivers face a fine of 500 rubles

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law under which owners of cars temporarily imported into Russia will be fined for violations of tinting rules. The document is posted on the website for the publication of legal acts.

Amendments to Part 3 of Article 12.5 of the Administrative Offenses Code eliminated the loophole by which owners of a certain category of cars could not comply with tinting rules, since they have the opportunity to use their cars on the territory of the Russian Federation for up to six months without registration with the State traffic inspectorate. For example, we are talking about drivers from South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Armenia or Georgia.

While their cars are temporarily imported, the norms of technical regulations do not apply to car owners.

Now the article in the Administrative Offenses Code will refer to the "Basic provisions for the admission of vehicles to operation", and not to the technical regulations of the Customs Union "On the safety of wheeled vehicles".

The light transmission level of the windshield and front side windows must still be at least 70%. No changes in the amount of the fine are provided, it is 500 rubles. The law comes into force 10 days after its official publication.
