Trading has begun in Novosibirsk for a collectible ZiS-101 car manufactured in 1940. The seller estimated the rarity at 95 million rubles.
The ZiS-101 underwent a complete restoration in 2024 and was previously exhibited in a museum. The specimen is extremely rare - from 1936 to 1941, 8,752 cars were produced in the USSR, and only a few have survived to this day in good condition.
As a reminder, the ZiS-101 was the first mass-produced Soviet car of the highest representative class. The designers relied on the American Buick 32-90, adapting the platform to Soviet production capabilities. Assembly was carried out by the Moscow Plant named after Stalin.
The car stands out for its impressive dimensions - 5.7 m in length, 1.8 m in width, 1.9 m in height with a weight of 2550 kg. In pre-war times, such cars served the party and state elite.
The exact number of surviving ZiS-101s in Russia is unknown. It is likely that there are several restored copies in the country, concentrated in museums and private collections.
