Toyota and Mazda Break into the Top: Japanese Brands Unexpectedly Strengthen in Russia Without Official Deliveries

Sales Increased, Positions Improved, and Competitors Lost Places in the Ranking

In the 4th week of 2026, from January 19 to 25, 555 new Toyota cars and 541 Mazda cars were sold in the Russian market. According to analysts at the Autostat agency, citing data from JSC "PPK", these results allowed Japanese brands to significantly strengthen their positions, despite the absence of an official presence in the country.

Toyota rose from 6th to 5th place in the brand ranking for the week, while Mazda made an even more dramatic leap, moving from 9th to 6th position. Thus, both companies bypassed several competitors at once and secured themselves in the middle of the top ten best-selling brands in the Russian car market.

The market leader remains Lada with a result of 4,493 cars sold. Haval and Tenet follow, with 2,157 and 1,894 cars sold, respectively. Geely, Belgee, Changan, Chery, and Jetour are also in the top 10, while the Solaris brand has dropped out of the top ten for the first time in a long time.

In total, 18,200 new passenger cars were sold in Russia in a week, which is 19% less than the previous week.
