Toyota and Mazda are breaking into the top: Japanese brands have unexpectedly strengthened in Russia without official deliveries

Sales increased, positions improved, and competitors gave up places in the ranking

At the end of the 4th week of 2026, from January 19 to 25, 555 new Toyota cars and 541 Mazda cars were sold on the Russian market. According to analysts at the Avtostat agency, citing data from AO "PPK", these results allowed the Japanese brands to significantly strengthen their positions despite the lack of an official presence in the country.

Over the week, Toyota rose from 6th to 5th place in the brand ranking, while Mazda made an even sharper leap, moving from 9th position straight to 6th. Thus, both companies overtook several competitors at once and established themselves in the middle of the top ten best-selling brands on the Russian car market.

The market leader remains Lada with 4,493 cars sold. It is followed by Haval and Tenet, which sold 2,157 and 1,894 vehicles respectively. The top 10 also included Geely, Belgee, Changan, Chery, and Jetour, while the Solaris brand dropped out of the top ten for the first time in a long while.

In total, 18,200 new passenger cars were sold in Russia over the week, which is 19% lower than the figure for the previous week.
