Jawa motorcycles have been granted Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) in Russia. The documents identify a Czech company as the manufacturer, while the vehicles are assembled at a production site in India. Obtaining the OTTS opens the possibility for mass import and official sale of motorcycles in the Russian market.
According to certification data, four modifications are approved for Russia: Jawa 300 CL, Forty Two, 350 CL, and 42 FJ. The 300 version is equipped with a 295 cc four-stroke engine producing 23 hp. The larger engine has a displacement of 334 cc and develops 29–30 hp.
All certified motorcycles are equipped with a telescopic front fork with hydraulic shock absorbers and a rear swingarm suspension. The design includes a six-speed manual transmission and a chain final drive.
The Jawa brand was founded in Czechoslovakia in 1929 and gained wide popularity in Europe and the USSR thanks to its simple and reliable motorcycles. After bankruptcy in the 1990s, production was revived in 2018 in India. Under the Jawa Moto brand, the company produces models with modern four-stroke engines.
