February Started with Increased Car Sales

Sergey Tselikov, Head of the Autostat Agency, Notes an Unusually Positive Start to the Month

At the end of the sixth week of the year, passenger car sales increased by 2.2% and reached 20.7 thousand vehicles. This result almost corresponds to the level of last year: the gap was only 0.3%, which indicates the stabilization of the segment.

The light commercial vehicle market showed a more noticeable weekly growth - by 9%. Over 1.2 thousand LCVs were registered during the week. At the same time, negative dynamics persist in annual terms: sales are 20% lower than last year.

Total sales of trucks (MCV and HCV) exceeded the mark of 1 thousand units for the first time since the beginning of the year. Compared to the previous week, the market grew by 6.1%. However, in relation to the same period last year, the decline remains significant - minus 33.4%.

Sergey Tselikov, Head of the Autostat Agency, notes that the beginning of February is usually accompanied by a decline in activity, but this year the dynamics turned out to be the opposite. Current indicators give reason to expect that a sharp collapse of the car market, similar to the first half of last year, will be avoided this time.
