An electronic stability control system, ESC, has been introduced in the all-wheel-drive versions of the "Sobol NN 4x4" and "Gazelle NN 4x4", and it is included in the standard equipment of all trim levels, including the basic ones.
The ESC system for GAZ brand models includes anti-lock braking and traction control systems, emergency braking assist, brake force distribution, as well as hill-start assist. This entire package is now available already in the entry-level versions of the all-wheel-drive vehicles of the NN generation.
In difficult road conditions, ESC can imitate the operation of cross-axle differential locks. The system brakes the slipping wheel, redistributing torque, which makes it possible to improve cross-country ability on slippery surfaces and off public roads.
In addition, a forced locking rear cross-axle differential is provided for the "Sobol NN 4x4" and "Gazelle NN 4x4". However, this function is offered as a paid option and is intended for use in severe off-road conditions.
The planned increase in the safety level of GAZ commercial models became known back in the summer. First, the "Gazelle Next", "Gazelle NN", and "Sobol NN" families received airbags. Then the electronic stability control system appeared on rear-wheel-drive versions: first on all-metal vans, combi vans, and buses, and later on flatbed trucks.
