New Chinese cars are disposed of fastest in Russia

NAPI published data on the duration of first ownership of dealership-bought cars

Marketing agency NAPI published the average duration of first ownership of new passenger cars from different countries of origin in Russia. The study shows how quickly owners part with their cars.

The average duration of first ownership of American cars over the past year increased by 8 months and reached 9 years, or 108 months. At the same time, Russians have also become less likely to get rid of most European and Japanese models — ownership periods are increasing.

Korean cars added as much as 9 months. Now the average duration of first ownership exceeds 6.5 years.

At the same time, ownership periods for Russian and Chinese cars have decreased. Compared with 2024, the figure for Russian cars fell by one month, and for Chinese cars by three. Chinese cars remain the leaders in abandonment: on average, the first owner uses them for 32 months, that is, less than three years.
