Almost 80% of Russians who planned to buy a car or became owners in 2025 postponed the deal due to difficulties with the choice. This was reported by the Avto.ru service following a survey of more than 1,200 people.
According to the study, 59% of respondents spent from one to three months choosing a car. The main reasons are conflicting information, lack of data on new brands, and a large number of options on the market.
64% of respondents often encounter a situation when the same model is simultaneously praised and criticized in different sources. Only 2% said that they had never experienced difficulties due to conflicting reviews. As a result, buyers have to additionally check the data and turn to other sources.
The opinions of friends and acquaintances are the most trusted. Bloggers and auto experts remain significant, but are inferior to the reviews of real owners in communities and chats.
The main selection criteria were price, year of manufacture and mileage — they were named by 81% of participants. Technical characteristics were noted by almost 63%, the brand is important for 43%. More than half of the respondents said that they lack convenient tools for comparing and narrowing the list to three to five models.
